Steven Van Zandt Net Worth $80 Million
Steven Van Zandt was born to Mary Lento – the name of his biological father is unknown, and his last name came from his stepfather William Van Zandt; his half-brother is Billy Van Zandt, who is known as an actor and film producer. At the age of seven, he moved with his family to Middletown Township, New Jersey. From an early age he showed interests in music, and he started playing the guitar.
Steven`s career began when he was a teenager, playing guitar in several bands during the 1960s, however, at the beginning of the 1970s he became more focused on a career in music, and soon extended his friendship with Bruce Springsteen to a professional level, as he became a member of the E-Street band. Throughout the 1970s, and until the mid-1980s, Steven contributed to the E-Street band as a guitarist, and occasional mandolin player. During his first stint with the E-Street band, Steven contributed on albums such as “Born to Run” (1975), “The River” (1980), and “Born in the U.S.A.” (1984), after which he left the band, and started several projects on his own. However, he rejoined the band in 1999, and participated in creating such albums as “18 Tracks” (1999), “The Rising” (2002), “Magic” (2007), “The Promise” (2010), “Wrecking Ball” (2012), and latest release “High Hopes” (2014), all of which have increased Steven`s net worth.
Apart from his success with the E-Street band and Bruce Springsteen, Steven has also collaborated with the band Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, with which he has released seven studio albums, including “I Don`t Want To Go Home” (1976), “This Time It`s For Real” (1977), “Hearts Of Stone” (1978), “Better Days” (1991), and most recently “Jukebox” in 2007, which have increased his net worth.
Steven has also started several bands on his own; most recognized is the band Little Steven and Disclosed Souls, with which he has released five studio albums that have also benefited his net worth. His first album was released in 1982, entitled “Men Without Women”, which only reached No. 118 on the US Billboard 200 chart. His second album came out in 1984, entitled “Voice Of America”, entering into the 100 best albums at No. 55. Steven released two more albums “Freedom- No Compromise” (1987), and “Revolution” (1989), but after that he put his solo career aside, to return ten years later with the album “Born Again Savage” (1999), which also added to his net worth.
Thanks to his talents, Steven has received several prestigious awards, including induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame, as a member of the E-Street band, among many others. Regarding his personal life, Steven has been married to actress Maureen Santoro since 1982. He is known for his charity work, as he is a member of the non-profit organization Little Kids Rock, for which he was rewarded with “Big Man of the Year” award in 2013.

1 | [on the closing episode of the 'Sopranos'] I had to go on one of those nationally syndicated shows the next morning, so I heard from the whole country how upset they were. So I just started asking people, Okay, what's your ending? Does the family get wiped out? Is that what you want? You want the kid to get killed? Tony to get killed? The wife? Okay, so what? And nobody could really say. I said, 'I'll tell you exactly what happened. The director said cut, the actors went home. That's what happened.' It's a TV show. It's a fucking TV show, okay? |
2 | We lost Vinny Pastore [playing Sal 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero] and that was the most difficult day up to that point. The only day on the set I can remember, you know, out of the whole ten years, where it was very uptight, a lot of tension on the set. I remember people yelling at each other and really pissed off, which you never saw. Why? Because we were losing Vinny. He was a beloved friend of ours, and you're not going to see him anymore. |
3 | [on auditioning for 'The Sopranos'] So David [Chase] goes, 'Sorry - any other part you want, you can have it'. I said, 'You know what, now that I think about it, I feel kind of bad taking another actor's part here. I'm a guitar player. These guys, they go to school, they go Off Broadway, they work for 5, 10 years honing their craft and being waiters and whatever'. He says, 'All right. I tell you what. I'll write you a part so you're not taking anybody's job'. I said, 'Well, I have a couple of treatments. I've written one about an independent hit-man that had retired. Silvio Dante.' |
4 | [on being in the cast of The Sopranos (1999) and a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band] "I am having the experience two times in my life of doing something that makes New Jersey fashionable. What are the odds on that?" |
